just some frames and variations

Part A and Part B

I like to make frames...sometimes I do more work on the frame than I do on the object within the frame...

Something to park within the frame...

The Lights Are On But Nobody's Home

OK: so I like to make frames...

It's my educational training...theatre school...love those proscenium arches/film frames/teevee screens/boxes...

So time jumps...over 30 years...from theatre school to the second hand book biz...

I have about 100 clip art books and a scanner...

So I make frames...

Sometimes I just make frames and save them for future use...this time I got an older photo of a teevee screen pattern...it's a place holder, minding the space in the frame...

The lights are on, but nobody's home...

Luna (cat portrait)

Luna is a cat who lives on Isla Mujeres Q Roo MX inside and outside the garden...

Manteca Pura

I found this box in the back room of the big bookstore, in a stack of cardboard heading to the recycle bin...

This thing made me think a little...I love the "USDA EXPORT" stamp in the upper right corner...think about it...we import high end electronics and cars and furniture and clothing...what do we export?

Lard.

(I recycled the box after getting my photos)

One tweaky Isla Mujeres related foto

Yes this was a photo taken on Playa Sol...the back of a beach chair and then I tweaked the living hell out of it...

New/Old/New Again (yeah it's still yet another variation on the self portrait/profile/avatar thing)

4 Variations on a Scanned Tequila Bottle

I bought a bottle of Sauza Hornitos at the Duty Free Shop in Terminal 3 of the Cancun airport

No I haven't opened it yet (I still have some left from last year)

Tonight I tried putting the bottle directly on to the scanner

The first attempt was a failure: the bottle was too thick and there was too much empty space between the bottle and the scanner lid

So on the second try, I draped a dark blue rayon shirt over the bottle and it turned out differently...

Then I made some variations on that image

Usually I find "the one" but this time I have four

Extreme Makeover Home Edition

OK so my title is a little misleading, this doesn't have anything to do with reality, um I mean reality TV...

It's a cropped version of the image in the previous post, with the color contrast bumped up a little...

I have an old scanner but I have new stuff to scan

I have this old Epson Perfection 1250 scanner...ironic name because it is far from perfect, but I used to play with it a lot and of course I just have to push it a little with what gets scanned...first, here are a few Mexican loteria game cards...

OK well I haven't really played much with the loteria cards yet, but I am sure I will work this stuff a lot in the future

While I was sitting here, I was idly enjoying some Rolo candy...that's those chocolates with the caramel center...mmmmmmm...they come wrapped in this gold foil...hmmmmmmm...what happens when you put the gold wrappers directly onto the scanner surface and scan at 200 dpi?

I figure I will try to scan just about anything on the scanner...except my own butt...I promise I won't do that...well I promise if I do I won't post it here...

I have a new camera but I have the same old cat

Got a new camera: Canon Power Shot A590 IS and I think I will be very happy with this camera. Nothing of interest to photograph just yet but of course I had to try it out...cue Junior Cat, my favorite unwilling subject...she shouldn't complain, the hours are short the pay is low but she does get free room and board...

Except for cropping I didn't do anything else to this photo...

Four Frames (waiting)

Sunday is always a good day to work. Up early, coffee, a little breakfast, then I dug out my old scanner and struggled with installing the drivers but finally figured it out. Next I got out some of my clip art books and made some frames for future projects...feel free to "borrow" them if you like...
